I’m hoping the ACNC can clarify for myself and many of my followers what appears to be some confusing contradictions relating to the Institute of Public Affairs.
On the face of it, the regulation prohibiting registered charities from ‘promoting or opposing a political party or candidate for political office’ seems to fly in the face of the very active and influential role the IPA plays in Australian politics.
I am wondering if the ACNC can shed light on how the IPA can appear to spend the majority of its income on lobbying for particular policy positions through the media and other means as well as claim to have worked on political campaigns for a political party, and yet not be in breach of the relevant regulation?
